N.F. Douglas Lumber Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of N.F. Douglas and Company Limited, which had traditionally been active in logging and lumbering right from its early days in the late 1800's. In fact, the company operated a sawmill which produced high quality white pine lumber. In recent years, however, the mill had become antiquated and operating it was becoming unfeasible. When the assets of another more modern sawmill in Caledonia became available in 1992, N.F. Douglas and Company Limited saw the importance to the community of ensuring that this mill remain operational and that every effort should be made to ensure its prosperous future. Their bid for the assets was successful, and N.F. Douglas Lumber was formed and began operation in November of 1992.
